This line of research concerns how to design a technology-enhanced learning environment to support the development of non-cognitive competence and nurture students’ habits of mind. The current focus is on training students’ capacity to persevere through their daily encounters with challenging academic tasks such as math problem-solving. This research is built upon Dr. Chen’s previous work using sensing technology and multimodal learning analytics to characterize students’ fine-grained cognitive/affective processes (JEDM 2021, EDM 2019, EDM 2016)
We are interested in making a suite of data-driven and human-centered analytics tools to be embedded into everyday learning tasks.
